SAVE Start Date: May 14, 2025

SAVE Portsmouth is being implemented by its SAVE Unit and Homicide Unit, in partnership with Portsmouth United and its Violence Interruption Team. In its first week, the SAVE Unit has already made multiple gun related arrests and referred several high risk people to Portsmouth United. Together, Portsmouth PD and Portsmouth United are using SAVE to protect their community. Go Portsmouth!

SAVE Start Date: April 3, 2025

SAVE Chesapeake is implemented by the Violent Incident Response Team (VIRT), a special unit dedicated to reducing gun violence. The VIRT is activated in the aftermath of a shooting and has a close working relationship with the community violence intervention organization League of Advocates Violence Interrupters, who are certified and professionally trained to respond to or intervene in any crisis and aftermath. Together, VIRT and the League of Advocates are using SAVE to keep their community safe. Go Chesapeake!
