Nicholas Loumos

Founder/Lead Consultant

Nick Loumos founded Guardian Consulting to bridge the gap between policing and a public health approach to violence reduction. A former City of Madison (WI) police officer with a Master’s in Social Work specializing in the administration of community violence intervention (CVI) programs from the University of Chicago, Nick possesses a unique dual-perspective on public safety.

Prior to founding Guardian, Nick served as a Field Advisor for the National Network for Safe Communities (NNSC), where he specialized in the focused deterrence based Group Violence Intervention (GVI). He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Focused Interruption, a Madison-area community violence intervention organization.

Nick’s career is rooted in the frontline implementation of evidence-based models, having developed his expertise working with programs like Cure Violence, the Rapid Employment and Development Initiative (READI), and Becoming a Man (BAM) during his graduate specialization at the University of Chicago. He helps communities across America institutionalize a public health approach to policing built on prevention, partnership and communication.

When he isn’t advising departments and their partners, Nick is likely exploring the trails and lakes of Dane County with his wife and three daughters.
