Nicholas Loumos

Nick has worked with several leading community violence intervention organizations including Cure Violence, the Rapid Employment and Development Initiative (READI) and Becoming a Man (BAM). He is a former City of Madison, WI police officer and was a Group Violence Intervention Field Advisor with the National Network for Safe Communities (NNSC) before creating Guardian to help police departments work with social services and community members to reduce gun violence.

He has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago, specializing in administration of community violence intervention programs. Outside of work Nick enjoys exploring Dane County’s trails and lakes with his wife and three daughters.

Camilo Mantilla

Camilo Mantilla is an international lawyer and public safety expert with robust experience leading legal, operational, and governance strategies across Latin America, the U.S., and Europe. His work focuses on advancing law enforcement and government modernization, violence reduction, and cross-border security collaboration, grounded in evidence and field-tested practice. He has served in government and international organizations, as a trusted advisor to national police forces, ministries of interior and justice, and U.S. city and federal partners, working at the intersection of law, public safety, and international relations, to navigate complex environments.

He holds a law degree and advanced legal studies in international law and U.S. legal systems. Also trained in behavioral research, justice sector and public safety management, Camilo brings a unique blend of legal rigor, cross-cultural field experience, and executive-level advisory skills. He enjoys long walks, good coffee and pastries, and reading about history.

Michael Acampora

Project Advisor

Michael was previously a Research and Policy Advisor at the National Network for Safe Communities (NNSC), where he researched, developed, and wrote about innovative approaches to applying focused deterrence to reduce gun violence and other crime problems. He also led a team to expand NNSC’s community-based violence interventions around the world by creating new written products, engaging with new external partners, and building out the organization’s research and development capacity. Michael has over a decade experience in working directly with police departments to improve their policies and practices, including at the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) and the Office of the Inspector General for the NYPD.

Michael has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Literary Arts from Brown University. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family in New York City, where he is based.

Jason Price

Special Advisor

Assistant Chief Price has 28 years of experience in a mid-size urban jurisdiction on the east coast. He has been a member of the steering committee for his jurisdiction’s GVI since its inception. Chief Price was also instrumental in the development and implementation of his police department’s GVI strategy which has reduced the number of people shot by over 50%.

Chief Price has an associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree In Public Safety from Liberty University and is a graduate of IACP’s SMIP and a member of IACP and PERF. He and his wife love to travel, hike, do yoga, and spend time with their four teenage kids.

Diane Nachtigal

Special Advisor

Captain Diane Nachtigal has 22 years of experience in law enforcement, including as a Mental Health Liaison officer, Criminal Intelligence Officer and Captain of Community Outreach. She has over eight years experience working in a Violent Crimes Unit as a Detective, Detective Sergeant and Lieutenant. Her team was one of the first in the area to incorporate shooting reviews and was instrumental in bringing together other partners to try and find a way to curb violence in the community. She also has experience supervising various specialty units including the Gang Unit, Burglary Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Community Outreach and Resource Education Unit.

Law enforcement is a second career for Diana who has an Associate’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She loves to travel, attend concerts, and spend time with her family.

Tim Patton

Special Advisor

Captain Tim Patton has spent over two decades in law enforcement, where he has served as a member of the SWAT team as well as a supervisor in Training, Special Investigations and one of five police districts. He was instrumental in developing his department’s relationship with a local community violence intervention organization and coordinating their collective response to a spike in gun violence.

Previously a high school special education teacher, Tim has a bachelors degree in Education from UW Madison, and is a certified Defensive and Arrest Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Master Instructor Trainer in Instructor Development. He enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors with his family.
